MoonFace the Mage is the bardic alias of Folk-Rock solo artist Rhodri Welsh. It's been 20 years since the inception of the MoonFace moniker. A pseudonym stole straight from Enid Blyton to complement the finger-picking guitar style, broken-hearted strum and folk-fantasy confessions of this solo acoustic project.
In 2005, Rhod joined forces with producer James Morgan to record and release a DIY EP; 'Folked up Beyond All Recognition.' And whilst working full time in a Cardiff tailor shop, MoonFace continued to play live shows with festival appearances and a UK tour. Sharing the stage with artists; Devendra Banhart, Seth Lakeman, Maria Taylor, and Hayseed Dixie. Then, in 2008, evolving into a 4-piece band; 'MoonFace and the Familiar Shapes.'
In 2024, Rhod and James Morgan joined forces once again to record and release a full length LP: 'Astoria to the Sea!' - A folk-rock opera telling the amorphous tale of Astoria, the Mountain Princess and her existential journey of discovery.
